Chelsea Football Club will be introducing digital ticketing from the start of the 2025/26 season, as part of a major effort to clamp down on ticket touting and ensure fairer, more secure access to tickets for fans.
From the beginning of next season, digital tickets will be required for all home matches at Stamford Bridge for general admission and hospitality.
Chelsea Football Club has confirmed that it will continue to take proactive measures to clamp down on ticket touting, using intelligence gathering, tracking and implementing tough sanctions where necessary. This season alone, the Club has stopped over 1,000 people with touted tickets coming into the stadium, cancelled 2,000 membership accounts linked to touts and arrested multiple individuals following police operations on matchdays.
Moving to digital tickets is a vital next step on this journey to tackle ticket touting. Digital ticketing is more secure, providing better visibility of who is attending matches and ticket authenticity for the club, and peace of mind for fans.
Alongside this, digital ticketing will improve fan experience and convenience, with digital ticketing providing the flexibility for fans to transfer tickets safely to Friends and Family.
Chelsea FC are making the switch from the beginning of the 2025/26 season – ahead of the Premier League’s mandated deadline – to double down on efforts to help tackle the touts and give fans time to transition with the support of the Club.
Benefits of digital ticketing for fans:
-
Security – digital ticketing will make purchasing and sharing tickets more secure and will aid the club in identifying ticket touts through improved visibility
-
Convenience – digital tickets will make ticket forwarding safer and easier with fans able to send tickets to Friends and Family in just a few clicks
-
Improved fan experience – in time, digital tickets will enable quicker entry into stands and a more personalised match day experience, with everything fans need all in one place
A Chelsea FC spokesperson said:
“This is an exciting transition for Chelsea FC that will yield multiple benefits and opportunities for our fans down the line. Most importantly it is another step on our journey to clamp down on the ticket touts. Switching to digital ticketing is a major step in ensuring a fairer, safer, more secure ticketing experience and will help to put real tickets in the hands of real fans.
“As a club we strive to provide the best service and best experience for our fans. Moving to digital tickets will be a crucial part of improving fan experience and giving them the peace of mind they deserve.”

Ticketmaster will bring its cutting-edge technology to Stamford Bridge, helping supporters enjoy the best ticketing experience by using its industry-leading products, and move towards a digital-first experience. This will see the deployment of digital tickets for the first time next season, providing a seamless and more secure experience for fans and supporting the club’s ongoing efforts to clamp down on ticket touting.
Casper Stylsvig, Chief Revenue Officer for Chelsea Football Club, said at the time:
“We are delighted to welcome Ticketmaster to the club at a crucial time, as we move towards digital ticketing for the 2025/26 season. Partnering with a leading force in the industry brings significant value to our operations, ensuring we offer our fans a smoother, safer experience with best-in-class products, while continuing to address the issue of ticket touts. We are excited to begin working together and look forward to getting started.”
