The SSE Arena, Wembley to go fully contactless for Joshua vs. Pulev fight this weekend

Some 1,000 fans will be returning to The SSE Arena, Wembley for the first time since March for the Anthony Joshua versus Kubrat Pulev this weekend, all of them will use mobile tickets for entry and order food and beverages exclusively through the Realife Tech powered SSE Arena, Wembley app.

Realife Tech – the Experience Automation Platform working with the world’s biggest entertainment destinations and events – is working in partnership with The SSE Arena, Wembley. The technology will enable the venue to welcome back 1,000 fans for the Unified Heavyweight Championship between Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev on December 12.

In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Arena has put protocols in place to make events as contactless as possible.

Mobile-only digital ticketing will be used exclusively to minimise touchpoints on entry into the venue. Fans will be required to download and share their tickets digitally through The SSE Arena, Wembley mobile app, powered by Realife Tech.

Inside the arena, innovative systems have been put into place to limit crowd movement and make transactions as easy as possible, with the mobile app being the sole method of ordering food and beverage.

New normal

In addition to placing orders, Realife Tech’s platform allows users to remain in their seats until notified that it’s ready to pick up. Reducing crowd congestion on concourses and limiting excessive crowd movement throughout the arena will help keep visitors and staff safe.

Adam Goodyer, Founder and CEO of Realife Tech, said:

Realife Tech is dedicated to helping fans return to the live events they love, confidently and safely. As The SSE, Arena, Wembley is regarded as a technology leader and has already taken great strides to prioritise the safety of their visitors, we’re proud to be teaming up to provide a technologically advanced solution to help fans make a seamless transition and adapt to events in this new environment.

John Drury, VP and General Manager for The SSE Arena, Wembley, said:

We are thrilled to be bringing fans back for the Heavyweight title match between Anthony Joshua and Kubrat Pulev. The comfortability and security of our fans is our highest priority, and utilising Realife Tech will allow visitors to experience live events in a safe, convenient, and enjoyable way.

Realife Tech’s solutions are available to visitors through The SSE Arena, Wembley mobile app.

The SSE Arena, Wembley

Hello Wembley! The SSE Arena, Wembley is globally renowned as one of the UK’s most iconic concert and events venues, and is part of a winning partnership between SSE and ASM Global; the leading provider of innovative venue services and live experiences and Wembley Park. The arena is situated next to Wembley Stadium and located in the heart of Wembley Park.

With a rich history that goes back to its days as the Empire Pool and Sports Arena, the building has played host to numerous events including the 1948 and 2012 Olympics. Since its opening in 1934, the famous stage has been graced by the likes of Madonna, David Bowie, The Who, Dolly Parton, Stevie Wonder, Prince and even The Beatles and Rolling Stones who shared the same bill.

The venue boasts state-of-the-art facilities, has a number of bars and food outlets, excellent car park facilities as well as top class hotels on its doorstep.

All of this adds up to make The SSE Arena, Wembley one of the premier entertainment destinations in the UK, as attendees at the inaugural edition of ALSD International back in 2018 witnessed first-hand, with a very special behind-the-scenes tour of the venue, ending with a networking evening reception in the newly opened Empire Bar & Grill.

Attendees at the 2018 edition of ALSD International were treated to a technical tour of the Arena, finishing up in the then brand new, 200-capacity Empire Bar & Grill and 50-capacity Empire Lounge, both of which incorporate a modern twist on an art deco concept into their styling, conjuring up vivid memories of The SSE Arena, Wembley’s rich history. The upcoming ‘hybrid’ edition of ALSD International will focus on increasing revenue via new builds, renovations, service expansions & technology, and reopening with confidence.

The event will feature a high-level conference, exhibition and networking events, as well as technical tours of Anfield, Goodison Park and M&S Bank Arena. NB: The microsite is going ‘live’ any day, enabling attendees to start networking, so make sure to secure your place at this industry-leading event.
