Hampshire Cricket launch brand new App

Hampshire Cricket and the Ageas Bowl have announced the launch of the brand new ‘Hampshire Cricket App’, the first of its type in English county cricket.

The App, free for fans to download and available across both iOS and Android devices, includes a raft of functionality and has been developed to bring Hampshire Cricket fans closer to the action and provide those in attendance at the Ageas Bowl with an enhanced matchday experience.

Developed in partnership with fan-led technology experts InCrowd, who currently work with over twenty high profile organisations and clubs in motorsport, football, cricket and rugby, the App further demonstrates the Club’s commitment to innovation and is a part of the venue’s digital transformation process to develop a fully-connected stadium following last year’s introduction of giant Samsung LED screens and leading Wi-Fi technology.

Paperless ticketing is a key component of the App’s functionality, with fans and Hampshire Members able to access tickets for matches at the Ageas Bowl and gain admission to the ground using just their device via the App. Thanks to this newly developed mobile ticket wallet technology from InCrowd, fans will also have the ability to securely forward digital tickets to friends and family across operating systems, supporting the venue’s fight against ticket touts and improving entrance times, while offering exciting sustainability benefits through a reduction in printed tickets and postage.

The App will feature an interactive wayfinding map, with those attending the Ageas Bowl on a matchday able to use the navigation tools to easily find their seat, amenities, activations and other in-ground locations. Hampshire fans all over the world will also be able to enjoy live streaming and video highlights of Hampshire matches at the Ageas Bowl with breaking news, exclusive content, behind-the-scenes footage and insight also hosted through the App.

Fans will be able to follow Hampshire’s progress ball-by-ball courtesy of live Opta match data and stay up to speed with scores and results from across the country and all domestic competitions, while further functionality – such as player of the match polls and fan prediction leagues – is scheduled to be added to the App in the coming weeks and months.

David Mann, Chief Executive, The Ageas Bowl, said:

We’re proud of the Ageas Bowl’s history of being at the cutting-edge of innovation in cricket and the launch of the Hampshire Cricket App is the latest example of this. The App has been developed with our fans firmly in mind and after seeing record-breaking customer and matchday experience scores and feedback in 2018, we’re confident the App will see Hampshire fans and Ageas Bowl attendees enjoy even more memorable experiences this summer.

InCrowd CEO, Aidan Cooney, added:

We are delighted that Hampshire Cricket is putting the fan first and has implemented InCrowd technology including the native ticket wallet to deliver an efficient and stress-free match day experience. At InCrowd, all our research and development is driven by fan feedback and we are looking forward to working with the club to really deliver on the promise of a better fan experience.

This latest development will be of particular interest to fans attending the Ageas Bowl’s Royal London One-Day International between England and Pakistan on Saturday 11th May – who will be able to make use of the paperless ticketing, interactive wayfinding, player of the match voting and live Opta match coverage functionality – as well as those taking in all the thrills sure to be in store throughout Hampshire’s 2019 T20 Blast campaign.
