FC Barcelona to discuss the club’s landmark ‘Barca Innovation Hub’ at Soccerex

Following its unveiling earlier this year, FC Barcelona have confirmed that they will be presenting details on their groundbreaking ‘Barca Innovation Hub’ project at this year’s Soccerex Global Convention 2017, taking place in Manchester, England, September 4-6.

With FC Barcelona planning to work with organisations such as universities, start-ups and investment partners, the project aims to elevate the club’s insight offerings and thought leadership position to the forefront of the sports industry as a centre for knowledge, innovation and technology, and will focus on five key areas: team sports, sports performance, medical services and nutrition, and technology and social sciences.

Addressing delegates will be the club’s Russell Stopford, Director of Digital and Javier Sobrino, Strategic Planning & Innovation Director. Both senior figures at the centre of FC Barcelona’s market leading drive for innovation, Stopford and Sobrino will provide a fascinating insight into the hub’s roots and objectives as it establishes a model that promotes a culture of excellence, transparency, openness and collaboration and further reinforces the club’s position as a pioneer in the sports industry.

Discussing FC Barcelona’s involvement, Soccerex Marketing Director, David Wright, commented:

We are really excited to be welcoming Russell and Javier to Manchester to open up on what is a truly landmark project for the industry. FC Barcelona has long been a club associated with success and innovation and I’m delighted they have chosen Soccerex’s platform to discuss their ideas and network with the industry’s leading professionals.

Stopford and Sobrino will be part of an extensive and thought-provoking conference programme at the Soccerex Global Convention, designed to deliver unique business insight across a variety of football’s key sectors. The programme will feature experts tackling subjects ranging from stadia design, sponsorship, and international investment to the latest in wearable technology and the rise of influencer marketing.
