Philips Lighting installs its first LED stadium lighting system in Turkey for Sinan Erdem Dome

A global leader in sports lighting, Philips Lighting (Euronext Amsterdam ticker: LIGHT), has installed the first Philips ArenaVision LED pitch lighting system in Turkey – where it has been operating for the last 87 years – at the Sinan Erdem Dome, which recently completed a whole series of technological additions.

The energy efficient pitch and stand lighting was installed at the sports arena ahead of the Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Final Four on May 19-21. It meets the latest International Basketball Federation (FIBA) standards for TV broadcasting and can be used to enhance the fan experience through dazzling light and music shows.
The lighting of the basketball court was achieved using 92 Philips ArenaVision LED floodlights with a further 96 Philips SportsStar LED floodlights illuminating the stands. Compared to conventional lighting, the new lighting system reduces energy consumption for lighting by 40 percent, saving on electricity costs. The Philips ArenaVision system can also be used to create spectacular light shows synchronised with sound and other entertainment fixtures to enhance the fan experience.
The new Philips ArenaVision LED lighting is ideal for the fast rhythm of basketball, enhancing the comfort of the athletes and the experience for basketball fans in the 16,500-capacity Sinan Erdem Dome and for those watching the game on television. The lighting meets the stringent requirements of television broadcasters that require high quality lighting for UHDTV and flicker-free super slow motion replays.

Sinan Erdem Dome revealed its full range of new technology additions during last weekend’s EuroLeague Grand Finale

Sinan Erdem Dome, the largest indoor multi-purpose arena in Turkey, officially introduced not only its new Philips Lighting ArenaVision LED system last weekend but also its newly installed cutting-edge technology by Colosseo during the biggest basketball event in Europe – the Turkish Airlines Euroleague “Final Four”.

Visitors enjoyed the spectacular visual feast of LED displays provided by Colosseo, including the LED ribbon boards. The Company invented the double-sided LED ring surrounding the HD centre-hung video board with only 6mm line spacing for an extra sharp picture, while its size and shape was precisely designed to perfectly fit the needs of basketball games.

All displays, content creation and distribution was under the control of the industry-leading Colosseo Single Media Platform (Colosseo SMP), providing a high-end game presentation show including  spectacular re-plays/highlights, eye catching animations and infotainment, while seamlessly managing the whole advertisement playlist on selected LED displays.

In addition, Colosseo installed timekeeping, scoring and a statistical system to inform visitors about all important game statistics in real-time like score, time, fouls, penalties and individual players statistics. FIBA-certified basketball accessories like transparent double-sided shot clocks and possession arrow indicators with hardware controllers were also part of the Company’s delivery.
