London Stadium has appointed Matt Owen as Associate Director to drive live event growth at the venue.
London Stadium said it is strengthening its senior leadership team as the venue continues to build its position as one of the UK’s leading destinations for live music and major events.
Matt joins from Oak View Group (OVG), where he served as Senior Projects Manager, Global Content & Touring, working across programming, development and consultancy projects throughout OVG’s international venue portfolio.
He brings extensive experience across the live entertainment sector, from festivals and touring to venue operations and event delivery.
Before joining OVG, Matt spent more than five years at Wembley Stadium, where he progressed through a number of roles before becoming Programming Manager.
During his time there, he worked as part of the team that secured and delivered the venue’s event calendar.
The 2026 SVB LIVE Conference & Exhibition – focused on elevating the live experience – took place at Everton FC’s Hill Dickinson Stadium earlier this month, with an Opening Night Icebreaker at Liverpool FC’s Anfield Stadium. Check out the Day 1 highlights video here.
Matt joins London Stadium at a pivotal time for the venue as it seeks to build on a track record that has seen some of the world’s biggest artists perform in east London.
The Stadium is currently progressing plans to increase the number of concerts and other major leisure events it can host each year, helping ensure it remains competitive within an increasingly crowded live entertainment market while delivering greater economic and cultural benefits for London.
Gary Bell, Commercial Director of London Stadium, said:
“Matt brings an exceptional mix of experience, industry knowledge and relationships built across some of the biggest names in live entertainment. He has developed relationships across the breadth of the industry and understands what it takes to attract and deliver world-class events.
“London Stadium has already established itself as a major destination for live events, but we believe there is much more potential to unlock, particularly in music. As the market becomes increasingly competitive, we are determined to ensure the Stadium is in the strongest possible position to attract the biggest artists, tours and events.
“Matt’s expertise will help us build on our track record and continue bringing unforgettable experiences to fans, while delivering significant benefits for east London.”
Matt Owen said:
“Like millions of people around the world, I watched across that summer as London Stadium drew the focus of a world audience for London 2012. The potential of this venue to grow, anchored as a beating heart of East London, as we look to increase our license capacity and our number of events is incredibly exciting.
“There is already an established history of being a truly multi-purpose venue, and I’m delighted to get to be part of the future of that journey as we look to use the stadium as a catalyst for the future development of the island and surrounding area. We’re really looking forward to working with all of our existing partners, and working with new partners to continue to realise the potential of the venue.
“To come to the stadium now, as we approach the fifteenth anniversary of those games, is a wonderful oppotunity to help define our legacy for East London, London and beyond.”
