Spanish LALIGA side, Getafe CF, and construction company, Amenabar, got underway on construction of the new “Coliseum” within days of signing of an agreement. This marks a significant milestone in the history of the club and the city, as it represents the first step towards the realisation of an exciting project for fans and for the continued growth of Getafe CF.
Construction of the new “Coliseum”, with an estimated completion time of less than 30 months, got underway earlier this month, following the signing of an agreement between the club and construction company, Amenabar. The revitalised venue will provide Getafe CF with modern facilities adapted to the demands of elite football. Work is scheduled to be completed by the end of 2027.
The project will be carried out in phases to allow the club to continue playing at their home ground and to ensure that the stadium’s capacity does not fall below 10,000 seats.
The first phase involves the stand behind the southern goal and the southern section of the east stand. The upper tiers will be completely rebuilt, ultimately forming a continuous, enclosed ring around the entire arena.
The design also calls for full coverage of the seating areas and a striking new façade on the outside. The existing floodlight masts will be removed, and capacity will grow by 2,000 seats. The renovation will give the stadium a more unified, enclosed, and attractive appearance.

Amenabar is a leading company in the construction sector and stands out for its commitment to quality, innovation, and sustainability in all its projects. Its extensive experience, spanning more than 40 years, has made it a benchmark in the sector, with outstanding sports projects successfully completed, leading it to accept the challenge of any type of project with full guarantee.
With a solid presence among the elite of Spanish football, Getafe CF has cemented its reputation with 21 seasons in the First Division, two Copa del Rey finals, and three appearances in European competitions.
The 2025 SVB LIVE Conference & Exhibition is being held at Villa Park in Birmingham, UK, on October 6th and 7th, with an Opening Night Icebreaker on October 5th (venue TBC), and the SVB LIVE Awards at St. Andrew’s @ Knighthead Park on the evening of October 7th.
The new Coliseum will reflect the club’s success and ambition, offering fans a state-of-the-art infrastructure and ensuring the club’s future on the national and international football scene.
The construction of a modern stadium has long been a dream of club president Ángel Torres, however it only became a reality thanks to LALIGA’s agreement with CVC Capital Partners, signed at the end of 2021, which provided Spanish clubs with additional funds for infrastructure development.
The stadium concept was prepared by the renowned design studio IDOM. When the agreement for the stadium renovation was announced, new renderings were also presented, showing changes in the exterior appearance compared to the original 2023 design.

The reconstruction will include the removal of the moat surrounding the pitch. Major changes will take place in the upper parts of the stands – the upper level will have built-in corners and will form a uniform ring around the entire facility. The stands will be of equal height, with the exception of the main stand, which will be slightly higher than the others and will have an additional narrow level between the two tiers.
A significant improvement will be the addition of roofing to cover all of the seats in the stadium. Two new large screens will be suspended above the stands behind the goals. The existing lighting masts will be replaced by floodlights attached to the roof, and the redeveloped facility will offer 69 VIP boxes.
Outside, there will be a uniform facade with diagonal columns and large, spaced-out, translucent panels on which multimedia materials can be displayed.
Thanks to the reconstruction, the facility will gain a more coherent, modern, and closed form. Its capacity will increase by 2,000 spectators.
The club intends to acquire a stadium naming rights sponsor, with the word “Coliseum” retained in its name.
