JOB NEWS: Head of Security, YTL Arena Bristol

YTL Arena – set to be the No.1 destination for live music in the South West and the fourth largest arena in the UK – is currently seeking a Head of Security. The venue will be a brand-new and advanced 365-entertainment complex with interlinking facilities hosting the best in live music, sport and other events.

Right now, YTL Arena is setting the stage for a historic launch and getting the band together that will bring to life its incredible ambition and vision to put Bristol on the world stage for live music and entertainment.

Joining before the doors open, you’ll utilise your knowledge and expertise to shape solid security strategy, infrastructure and procedures that align with our policies, industry best practice and legislation for the arena and beyond. And that’s just the lead-up to day-to-day operations!

For you, this is a career defining opportunity and your chance to introduce new ways of working for a multi-million-pound business asset and to help create unforgettable live experiences for 1.4m annual visitors across 140 live events. We want to put your ideas centre stage so we can wow our crowds, crew and staff and deliver an exceptional customer experience!

Une Marija Jurkstaite, Head of Experience, YTL Arena Bristol, is one of 40 high-ranking industry experts sitting on the ALSD International advisory board. ALSD International 2023 is being hosted at Manchester City’s Etihad Stadium, October 9-10. Optimising revenue through New Builds, Renovations & Service Expansions is the key focus of this industry-leading event, with architecture & design, fan experience, hospitality, premium seating, sustainability and technology taking centre stage.

Your experience in events, stadia or in crowded places, within a law enforcement, military or private security organisation is just the ticket. You know what makes event owners, promoters, and key stakeholders tick. You love to lead from the front with a can-do attitude, and it’s obvious you’re serious about security.

It goes without saying that you’ll be well-versed or qualified in counter-terrorism and security risk assessment. Your Security Management qualification or equivalent experience will see you write exceptional security plans and risk management. And as for conventional crime and non-criminal disruptive activities – you know the drill.

Ours is a dynamic, high-energy environment where your insight will shape success on stage and across the South West.

In return, YTL Arena will offer:

About YTL Arena Bristol:

YTL are repurposing the historic Brabazon Hangars, birthplace of aviation icon Concorde and Bristol Brabazon, into the number one live entertainment destination for Bristol and the South West. The three hangars are interlinked but each will offer their own unique experience for visitors.

YTL Arena will be the first live indoor music and entertainment venue for the South West, attracting the world’s biggest artists and events to Bristol

A fan experience like no other, YTL’s unique seating bowl has been designed to optimise sightlines, offering the audience an intimate experience, whether you’re watching a 4,000-capacity comedy gig or a 19,000-capacity rock concert. Every fan will have unforgettable experiences before and after a show, with a mix of vibrant bars, lounges and restaurants focusing on high quality, local food and drink. The complex will also host exhibitions and trade shows in a large, flat floor, pillarless space and become a place for visitors to eat and play with year-round attractions and activities.

The spotlight is on sustainability, and it is YTL’s goal to create the most responsible and sustainable arena in Europe, and to be carbon neutral from day one. As a Retrofirst solution, repurposing the Hangars will save 18,600 tonnes of CO2 emissions from being emitted. The venue will be 100% electric, one of the first venues in the UK to operate without the use of fossil fuels, and 10,000m2 of solar panels covering the roof will generate green energy.

In May 2022, Queen + Adam Lambert’s – one of the biggest music acts in the world – made use of the vast space in the Brabazon Hangars to complete five days of full production rehearsals in preparation for their mammoth Rhapsody Tour. Queen + Adam Lambert were also the first artists to contribute to our glazed ‘Walk of Fame’, a unique feature in our Runway Bar which stores and showcase a series of time capsules.
