LLDC appoint PTI to develop QEOP Smart Park Strategy

PTI Digital have been appointed by the London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC) to develop a “Smart Park” strategy for the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park (QEOP).

With innovation sitting as a core strategic pillar, LLDC are looking to view the QEOP as a ‘Smart Park’, utilising the power of technology to enhance their mission of transforming East London and supporting its communities. This project will deliver a strategy that considers commercial growth, operational efficiency, digital engagement and the community benefits holistically.

PTI’s role will start with establishing the “why?”: identifying the guiding principles to focus on right-fit solutions and the delivery of an integrated data, digital and technology strategy, which enables tactical projects to get underway whilst building towards the ideal future state.

PTI will create a fully costed roadmap that breaks the strategy down into modular component projects (those as identified as having best commercial return) and showcases the journey between the current and future states. This approach will help identify key sponsorship opportunities in the short-term and longer term,  as part of the longer-term commercial planning process already underway.

Smart Stadium strategy

The appointment extends the Smart Stadium strategy work PTI is already undertaking at London Stadium, allowing both projects to connect, creating a seamless customer experience throughout all of QEOP.

This adds further momentum to PTI’s exciting start to 2022, having recently been appointed by Premiership Rugby on its D2C strategy and both Hibernian FC and Gloucester Rugby on their Digital Transformation strategies, joining existing clients Oak View Group (OVG) & Co-op Live, Wasps & Coventry Building Society Arena, the NEC Group, Edgbaston Stadium and Norwich City. PTI also announced earlier this year that it had extended its relationship with Bristol Sport & Ashton Gate Stadium for a further four years.

The PTI approach

The PTI approach distils an organisation’s vision into a long-term, detailed and fully-costed transformation roadmap, broken down to fit with our clients’ financial planning cycles, contractual obligations, attitude to risk and other factors peculiar to them. The outcome is a commercial model that is not only able to capitalise fully on big event days but also to enable rightsholders to engage and monetise their customer base year-round through the provision of a better value proposition. The result is transformative but broken down into manageable phases.

Nathan Homer, QEOP Chief Commercial Officer, said:

This is an exciting project for LLDC and one which will drive the customer experience throughout the entire Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park alongside bringing additional value to the communities that surround it. We have been really pleased with the work PTI have already delivered on the London Stadium and so being able to expand their remit to cover the entire campus is a key step forward.

Mike Bohndiek, Chief Executive Officer, PTI, said:

We have enjoyed working with LLDC and the LS185 team on the London Stadium project and it is a real privilege to have been able to broaden our remit to incorporate the whole of the QEOP. By connecting the entire experience, LLDC will have access to comprehensive customer and meta data that will not only help improve the experience on an ongoing basis but also create exciting revenue opportunities through an enhanced customer proposition.

PTI’s digital transformation pyramid – which unifies its three core pillars of Venue Technology, Data & Digital and Commercial Strategy – lays the foundation for the holistic digital transformation of sports and entertainment organisations and venues. It is this integrated, efficient approach which begins with strategic intent and is informed by insight and powered by the right technology infrastructure which creates significant commercial advantage over the long-term.
