New commercial appointment at Queen’s Park FC

Queen’s Park FC announced this week that Kieran Koszary has been appointed Head of Commercial, Sponsorship and Venue Sales.

Kieran was previously the Commercial Director at Falkirk FC for eight years and enjoyed great success rebuilding the commercial fortunes of the club.

He was also instrumental in creating various charity partnerships for Falkirk FC and launched numerous creative community initiatives which generated large scale national publicity for the club and their partners.

Commenting on the appointment, Queen’s Park Chief Executive Leeann Dempster said:

Kieran brings with him a rich history and experience in the game having been at Falkirk for over 8 years, leading them in several senior roles from commercial to the board room.

I’m delighted that Kieran has chosen to join us at this exciting time for the club.

Kieran said:

I am delighted to be joining Queen’s Park at a time when there are so many fantastic things happening, on and off the pitch. I am confident that I can add to this from a commercial and fan engagement perspective.

I have been impressed with the club’s ambition and plans for the future and the intention for Queen’s Park to become a key community asset for Glasgow is a key motivator for me.

I would like to thank everyone who has made me feel so welcome in my first few days at the club and I am looking forward to meeting members, supporters, commercial partners and everyone associated with the club in the weeks ahead.

Lesser Hampden

Since 1999, Lesser Hampden has been the home of Queen’s Park Football Club Ltd, whilst still retaining ownership of all 33 acres of the Hampden Park campus. The National Stadium has only been used by Queen’s Park for competitive 1st X1 matches, approximately once per fortnight during the football season.

Lesser Hampden is home to the vibrant and busy youth programme, over 100 children aged from 9 – 18 and community projects aged from 5 – 93, as well as 1st X1 training and non-competitive matches. This means for the past 20 years the Lesser Hampden outdoor area has been utilised, for football, seven day per week, predominantly evenings and weekends. Currently, evening activities usually finish by 9:00pm for both weekends and weekdays baring any special circumstances which can extend the operational opening hours to 10:00pm.

In July 2020, ownership of the National Stadium changed to the Scottish FA, with Queen’s Park retaining ownership of Lesser Hampden, currently an unlicensed ground. This means Queen’s Park will no longer be able to play their 1st X1 competitive matches at the National Stadium. The club therefore plan to renovate Lesser Hampden to a licensed stadium able to host competitive League and Cup matches.

Renovations

In order to become a licensed stadium, the club will expand and cover the existing seating area, provide concessions stand and a toilet block, develop a new stand on the East of the site, with associated infrastructure, and renovate the existing buildings to provide changing accommodation and a hospitality area. The existing floodlighting will remain, with two towers being relocated slightly and a potential upgrade to more efficient LED lighting.

The new development will comprise the following accommodation:

  • Home Changing Facilities
  • Away Changing Facilities
  • Match Official Changing Rooms • First Aid
  • 2 x Concessions
  • 2 x Toilet Blocks
  • 2 x accessible WC
  • Extended West Stand (Capacity: 914)
  • New East Stand (Capacity: 812)
  • Extended Clubhouse Terrace (Capacity: 48)
  • Match Control Room
  • Storage
  • Plantroom

The aesthetics of the new stadium development will be kept the same as the existing Clubhouse, Farmhouse and Byre and the West stand, with a pallet of red bricks, white render and metal cladding panels.
