CGF launch global search for new Chief Executive Officer

The Commonwealth Games Federation has launched the global search for a new Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games and beyond. The CGF is the global governing body responsible for the Commonwealth Games, the Commonwealth Youth Games and delivering the vision, mission and values of the Commonwealth Sport Movement.

Headquartered in London, the new CEO will drive the strategic direction of the CGF as it approaches its centenary in 2030 and continues its transformation into a global sporting movement focused on community legacy, benefit and impact through sport.

The CEO will manage relationships with global stakeholders, including 72 Commonwealth Games Associations (CGAs), International Federations, Games Organising Committees and Host City Partners and Commonwealth institutions. They will also work closely with CGF Partnerships and the newly-launched Commonwealth Sport Foundation.

The recruitment process will be supported by leading global executive search and talent consulting firm SRI.

CGF President Dame Louise Martin DBE said:

We are delighted to be launching our global search for a new Chief Executive Officer. This is a significant leadership role not only in Commonwealth Sport, but across the entire international sporting landscape. As we seek to define the next phase of our Strategic Plan, and with Birmingham 2022 fast-approaching, this is a golden opportunity for an inspirational figure to join us and help write a new chapter in our 90-year story.

The CGF is seeking a new CEO after David Grevemberg stepped down following six years in the role. He was previously CEO of the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games. Mike Hooper served as the organisation’s first full-time CEO from 2000 to 2014.

Applications for the role are now open and will close on Monday 5 April, 2021.

Applicants wishing to register their interest in this opportunity should contact SRI via email at: cgf@sriexecutive.com
