Fayetteville Woodpeckers add video board to Minor League ballpark

Daktronics has partnered with the Fayetteville Woodpeckers – the minor league affiliate of the Houston Astros – to design, manufacture and install a new LED video board at their minor league ballpark in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

The installation took place late in the autumn/fall of 2018 to be ready in time for the 2019 baseball season.

Fayetteville Woodpeckers President, Mark Zarthar, said:

Our stadium experience will extend well beyond baseball. The Woodpeckers are committed to providing a unique, high-energy and high-quality occasion for our fans. Technology is a major component of that experience. Daktronics is the industry leader in outfitting entertainment venues with state-of-the-art displays. The dimensions of our LED video board are unprecedented for a stadium this size and will elevate a minor league park to a world-class entertainment venue.

The video board measures approximately 25ft high by 70ft wide to bring a larger-than-life experience to Woodpecker fans. It features a 15HD pixel layout to create vibrant imagery with wide angle visibility to appeal to fans in every seat of the ballpark.

The display is capable of variable content zoning allowing it to show one large image or multiple windows of digital content. It can show live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, graphics and animations. It can also help highlight Woodpecker sponsors throughout every game and other special events.

Corey Williams, Daktronics Sales Representative, said:

The new Fayetteville minor league ballpark is going to be a great new facility and we’re excited to be a part of the project. The video board will provide Woodpecker fans with years of entertainment and we can’t wait to see it fired up in time for the first season.

Daktronics show control system was included with the installation to provide a powerful, easy-to-use solution for operating the display to provide a desirable and engaging game-day experience for fans.
