Twickenham Stadium gets set to unveil its new East Stand redevelopment to an international audience

Twickenham Stadium is set to unveil its new East Stand redevelopment at an international launch to global buyers during IBTM World, Barcelona.

IBTM World, which will take place at 11am on November 28, will see the award-winning Twickenham events team challenge global event planners to look at new ways of organising meetings, events, banquets and product launches.

The new East Stand – designed by Sports Venue Business’ long-time VIP Sponsor, KSS – represents a multi-million pound redevelopment at the home of England Rugby, and will offer six floors of creative event space that not only provide new-found match day hospitality options, but also offer unexpected and dynamic settings that go far beyond a simple conference or banqueting space.

Twickenham’s Catering and Conference & Events Director, Nils Braude, said:

We are excited to share our new, state-of-the-art facilities with our international peers and help a global audience to see us as more than just a standard conference or gala dinner venue. Our plan for the East Stand has always been to encourage organisers to think differently and we feel IBTM World provides us with a great platform to do that globally. We’re looking forward to working with our clients to create something new and different.

The East Stand’s contemporary offering will provide clients with a plethora of options, each with a different look, feel and ambience. Among Twickenham Stadium’s most surprising and inspiring new venues will be The East Wing, which offers a contemporary space reminiscent of a private members club, demonstrating sophistication without stuffiness. Alongside four private terraces with both pitch-side views and outdoor access, it has four individual private dining areas that can accommodate up to 30 guests for a relaxed lounge environment or formal private table setting and 800 covers for the whole restaurant.

Another exciting addition to Twickenham’s portfolio is The Gate, which offers a modern, simple, but exquisite chop-house style restaurant, complete with low lighting and open brickwork. The space offers a dedicated meat store and separate wine room, perfect for intimate wine tastings.

The East Stand: Project details

The East Stand extension – designed by KSS – will see the first significant redevelopment of Twickenham Stadium since the South Stand was completed in 2008 and will provide over 11,000sqm of hospitality and debenture space for 6,800 premium ticket holders.

Although the overall stadium capacity will remain at 82,000, the new facilities will provide a major extension of the current hospitality and conferencing facilities, and just as importantly a much wider range of food and beverage offers in far more comfortable surroundings.

Each level will be distinctive in its design with rugby themes subtly embedded, celebrating and bringing to life the unique aspects of the home of England Rugby, and delivering a truly bespoke hospitality experience.

TBA Chosen for Twickenham Stadium Captains Club Redesign

Twickenham Stadium has agreed a partnership with experiential agency TBA to redevelop the experience within the stadium’s North Stand Captains Club. The suite of event spaces, which also include the Beaumont Room, is being redeveloped by the agency to include interactive displays and contemporary design, ideally suited to event professionals.

TBA won a competitive bid to redesign the rooms, which will open in October 18. The new suite will now have interchangeable branding panels, which can be moved and removed to allow easier branding, feature walls, projection mapping, and the tech options that event organisers can adapt to suit their own events.

Braude commented:

We wanted to bring in a business that could design the space to suit the needs of creative experiential and event specialists. TBA have done a brilliant job in the redesign and we’re looking forward to opening the space to event professionals next month. It will be a fitting start to an Autumn of really exciting new launches at the stadium.

Guy Horner, CEO, TBA, added:

The TBA team were delighted to be appointed for the design and delivery of the North Stand event space redesign. Drawing on both our design experience and hospitality expertise it was a great pleasure to work with such a prestigious organisation, in one of the sporting world’s most iconic venues. We are extremely proud of the result and the impact its created.
