Leading structural engineering specialist, TRP Consulting, has been appointed to the team that will deliver the GB£40m redevelopment of Emerald Headingley Stadium in Leeds.
Its engineering experts will work with the Emerald Headingley design and construction teams to turn the vision for two impressive new stands at the historic sporting venue into reality.
TRP Consulting specialises in providing civil, structural and environmental engineering consultancy services. Its structural engineers have a strong track-record of delivery on large complex building works and have widespread sports and sports stadia expertise, having helped to successfully deliver sporting projects across the UK, including the regeneration of Doncaster Racecourse, the revamp of Preston North End’s historic Deepdale football ground and the creation of Arsenal FC’s training facilities.
Emerald Headingley is home to Leeds Rhinos rugby league club and the Yorkshire Country Cricket Club. It also hosts Yorkshire Carnegie rugby union games and is a Test cricket venue.
TRP Consulting has been appointed by the project’s Main Contractor (MC), Caddick Group. The new stands are being designed by DLA Architects. Construction work will be carried out by Caddick Construction.
The proposed major redevelopment includes a new rugby South Stand and a replacement for the 90-year-old joint rugby and cricket ground stand that overlooks both sides of the iconic sporting complex.
Perhaps best-known for the Ian Botham-led Ashes Test win in 1981, the Headingley cricket ground has staged international cricket since 1899.
TRP Consulting Director, Geoff Wilks, said:
Emerald Headingley is well-known globally as a fantastic venue and this redevelopment will ensure that it continues to be the scene of great sporting dramas in the future.
We have been appointed to bring all our structural engineering knowledge to what is going to be a complex development and construction challenge.
The redevelopment team can count on our ability and track-record of delivering high quality engineering consultancy services on major construction projects.
We will be working closely with the architects, designers, construction teams and project managers to turn this impressive vision for a 21st Century sports stadium into reality.
The proposed new combined stand will have 4,200 seats for cricket and 3,800 facing the rugby pitch. The new South Stand for the rugby ground will have a capacity of 7,700 with 2,200 seats.
Manchester-based TRP Consulting provides a full range of civil, structural and environmental engineering consultancy services – providing a broad knowledge base and promoting a proactive approach to project delivery. It has also carried out work at Manchester United’s Old Trafford ground and Bolton Wanderers’ Macron Stadium.
TRP was established in November 2000 and has demonstrated the ability to deliver high quality consultancy services on major projects in both the public and private sectors.
