SAN MAMÉS STADIUM – AERIAL FLYTHROUGH
The new San Mames Stadium offers added value to the circulation areas, contributing spatial qualities & linking them in an intense fashion to the city of Bilbao & the surroundings. This connection is materialised by the introduction of great windows framed in red; one includes the club’s crest, which is projected via LED technology. In the same way, the ETFE panels that make up the façade change their white colour for any imaginable combination of shapes & colours. The design of the new stadium, by IDOM - the architectural practice behind the original San Mames - with capacity for 53,332, satisfies the requirements for an UEFA “Elite category” stadium. The complex also includes a museum, shopping area, restaurants, cafeterias, event, meeting & conference rooms.
