Work on the new corner stands at the Johan Cruijff ArenA is at an advanced stage. Upon completion, it will mean the addition of approximately 880 extra seats for the multifunctional stadium, which will bring its capacity to over 55,000.
It is expected that the stands at the Johan Cruijff ArenA, which will fill the corners of the Dutch National Stadium, will be completed by mid-July 2020.
The first corner stand on the west-southside is almost finished and already shows what the end result will look like.
The new stands are made of concrete and steel and are custom made. Each has a movable part with hydraulic pistons so the lower part of the stand can be lifted. That way vehicles and materials can still be driven up the modified ramp right up to the pitch.
With the extra stands, AFC Ajax and the Johan Cruijff ArenA are accommodating the large demand for soccer match seats.
The Johan Cruijff ArenA
The Johan Cruijff ArenA is the soccer stadium of the Netherlands, home to AFC Ajax and a match ground for the Dutch national team. It also offers multifunctional accommodation for large-scale, national and international music and dance events, as well as for smaller-scale meetings for (mainly) the corporate segment.
The stadium is one of the host venues for the rescheduled UEFA EURO 2021 and puts on events in close cooperation with several partners.
High-quality services, state-of-the-art facilities, security and optimal public experience form the most important strategic pillars of the Johan Cruijff ArenA.
One of the world’s most sustainable stadiums, the Johan Cruijff ArenA is regarded internationally as a role model and consultant for modern stadium construction and operation.
The Amsterdam Innovation Arena serves as a living lab for developing innovative concepts for stadium management and event experience.
