Chicago Cubs unveil three new clubs for Wrigley Field

Populous, in partnership with the Chicago Cubs, have unveiled the designs of three new premier clubs that will come online in future phases of the 1060 Project. The Maker’s Mark Barrel Room, W Club and Catalina Club will join the American Airlines 1914 Club as the four new premium seating options for Wrigley Field.

The American Airlines 1914 Club will debut on opening day 2018, while the three newly unveiled clubs are scheduled to open in time for the 2019 season. Each Populous-designed club will have its own feel and defining features to collectively add a level of luxury and exclusivity to Wrigley Field, a ballpark already renowned for its beauty and charm.

Designed to reflect a speakeasy in Chicago, the Maker’s Mark Barrel Room is an all-inclusive food and beverage experience located just beyond the visitors’ dugout. This in-ground placement provides views of the visitors’ batting tunnel. The W Club will be located on the ground level as well, under the seats along third base, and will celebrate the Cubs’ past and current players through installations of memorabilia and a view into the Cubs’ batting tunnel. Each club can accommodate up to 250 people.

Populous Principal, Adam Stover, said:

Creating new and updated environments while maintaining the history of Wrigley Field and the Cubs brand was very important to us from the start of this project. The tailored finishes and modern amenities of these premier clubs will keep Wrigley Field’s charm while adding to the hospitality the Cubs brand is known for.

Named after the Cubs’ former spring training site on Catalina Island, the Catalina Club, positioned in the upper level behind home plate, will feature indoor and outdoor areas and a picturesque view of Wrigley Field and the Chicago skyline. Retractable glass walls allow those indoors to take in the sights, sounds and summer breeze. The existing Jim Beam Patio will become part of the Catalina Club, which will accommodate 400 people. Once opened, the new clubs will be available for rent and private events.

Chicago Cubs Vice President of Ticketing, Cale Vennum, said:

This is right in line with the vision of the project from the very beginning. We want to enhance the fan experience while preserving the history of Wrigley Field. We’re really excited about what these spaces can offer folks.

The 1060 Project is a multi-year plan designed to ensure the viability of the ballpark for future generations of Cubs fans while preserving the beauty, charm and historic features of Wrigley Field that fans have come to know and love.
