We are delighted to be able to bring you details on this week’s featured ‘Job of the Week’ (JOTW), which is for 4x Assistant Event Managers at the Glasgow 2018 European Championships.
The Glasgow 2018 European Championships is a new multi-sport event, which will be held in Glasgow and Berlin in the summer of 2018. More than 8,000 athletes, officials and media are expected in Glasgow and Scotland with a potential television audience of more than one billion.
Funded jointly by the Scottish Government and Glasgow City Council, this new event will be organised in partnership with the international and national sports federations for each of the participating sports. The Glasgow 2018 European Championships will allow Glasgow and Scotland to continue to build on the economic, cultural and sporting legacy achieved by staging the Commonwealth Games in 2014.
The Event Management Functional Area is recruiting four Assistant Event Manager Posts to work across the sport competition and festival venues. Reporting to the relevant Event Manager, you will be responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering all Event and Venue Operations of an allocated Sport Competition Venue or Festival Venue.
The focus of the role is to work in close collaboration with all Functional Areas of the Championships notably, Sport, Venues Development and Overlay, Central Operations and Project Management and Governance FA’s to plan and deliver all Event Management and Venue Operations responsibilities at an allocated venue.
Candidates require proven Event Management or venue management experience to perform this important role managing and coordinating across a range of both internal and external stakeholders and partners such as venue owners, sport federations, local authority licensing etc. Post-holders must be able to build strong relationships and work in partnership with a range of stakeholders to deliver events to an international standard.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of the inaugural edition of this exciting event as it makes its world sporting calendar debut.
The successful candidate must be able to commit to evening and weekend working shortly before, and during, the Championships. Restrictions on annual leave will also be necessary in the summer of 2018.
The successful candidate will be based at Commonwealth House, 32 Albion Street, Glasgow, Scotland.
If you are an employee of Glasgow City Council, Glasgow Life or one of the Council’s Arm’s Length External Organisations (ALEOs), subject to approval from your manager, your substantive grade and terms and conditions will be protected. However your current role may not be and you would need to seek confirmation on this matter from your manager.
