SM Seaside Cebu Arena opens in the Philippines

The SM Seaside Cebu Arena opened its doors on July 9, marking a huge leap forward for the live entertainment and sports landscape in the Visayas and Mindanao regions of the Philippines.

Developed by SM Prime Holdings, the venue features a distinct, wave-shaped glass facade that stands as a modern architectural landmark on the Cebu coastline.

The arena comfortably accommodates a standard seating crowd of 16,000 spectators, but it can expand to hold a maximum full-house capacity of 25,000 people for major festival-style concerts and massive events.

To complement this scale, the interior is packed with cutting-edge technology, including a massive centre-hung digital scoreboard, 360-degree LED ribbon boards, and full 5G digital connectivity to ensure seamless media broadcasting and spectator interaction.

Jeffrey C. Lim, SM Prime president, said:

“This arena is part of our long-term vision for Cebu. By creating a world-class platform for live entertainment and large-scale gatherings within SRP, we give local and foreign tourists another reason to visit and stay longer. More importantly, this investment will generate economic opportunities for local entrepreneurs and nearby communities.”

SM Seaside Cebu Arena has direct access to SM Seaside City Cebu and the upcoming SMX Convention Center Seaside Cebu, Park Inn by Radisson, and Radisson Hotel, creating a comprehensive lifestyle, tourism and business district in the Queen City of the South.

The 2026 SVB LIVE Conference & Exhibition – focused on elevating the live experience across sports and entertainment – is being hosted at Everton FC’s new Hill Dickinson Stadium, Oct 1st and 2nd. An Opening Night Icebreaker will kick things off in style at Liverpool FC’s iconic Anfield Stadium on Sept 30th.

The launch drew 400 guests from the events, entertainment, tourism, hospitality and corporate sectors, offering an early look at the venue through an hour long flythrough that highlighted its scale, design and event capabilities.

Designed by award-winning global architecture firm Arquitectonica, the arena spans more than seven hectares of gross floor area and can accommodate up to 25,000 guests. Its exterior is defined by wave shaped glass windows, echoing the signature façade of its sister venue, the SM Mall of Asia Arena.

At the centre of SM Seaside Cebu Arena is Cebu’s largest and most advanced centre-hung display, designed to deliver crystal-clear visuals, immersive sound and real-time data integration for sports, concerts, electronic dance music (EDM), family entertainment, corporate shows, circus productions and motorsports events.

Aside from being the largest facility of its kind in the Visayas, SM Seaside Cebu Arena offers the most premium live entertainment experience through its Premier Suites.

The venue has 30 luxury Premier Suites located just above the VIP sections. Each suite can accommodate up to 13-31 guests and includes upscale seating, private restrooms and unobstructed views of the event floor.

Suite holders and their guests also have access to dedicated VIP lounges, a café and an exclusive entrance.

SM Seaside Cebu Arena will open its major events calendar with the BINI Signals World Tour on July 11. Other upcoming shows include IV of Spades, TJ Monterde and KZ Tandingan, Hillsong Worship and LANY.

On the athletic front, the arena is scheduled to host the Women’s Volleyball Nations League and the 2027 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup, cementing its status as a premier sports destination. Lim added:

“Cebu has long been one of the country’s most dynamic markets. With this arena, we can bring more Filipino and international acts to the Visayas and strengthen the region’s place in the live entertainment circuit.”

The SM Seaside Cebu Arena marks a monumental leap forward for the live entertainment and sports landscape in the Visayas and Mindanao regions of the Philippines. Officially opened on July 9, 2026, this massive 7-billion-peso facility is located within the South Coast City township at the South Road Properties in Cebu City.

A dedicated pedestrian SkyBridge links the venue directly to the SM Seaside City Cebu mall and the upcoming SMX Convention Center Cebu, allowing event attendees to easily access thousands of retail, dining, and parking options.

The surrounding township also includes plans for new hotel properties, making it a highly accessible hub for domestic and international tourists.
