Bodø/Glimt has officially marked the start of construction of the “Arctic Arena”, a landmark project that will become the future home of the four-time Norwegian champions and a symbol of the club’s continued growth on and off the pitch.
With a planned capacity of 10,000 spectators and designed to meet UEFA requirements for international matches, the new arena will provide Bodø/Glimt with a modern home built for the next chapter in the club’s history.
Scheduled for completion in 2027, the project represents one of the most important investments ever made in the development of Bodø/Glimt and a major step forward for football, community and business in Northern Norway.
The start of construction comes at a moment of historic momentum for the club. This season, Bodø/Glimt enjoyed a remarkable UEFA Champions League campaign, reaching the Round of 16 for the first time in the club’s history in its first-ever participation in the competition, further underlining the extraordinary rise of a club from north of the Arctic Circle onto the biggest stage in European football.
Frode Thomassen, CEO of Bodø/Glimt, said:
“This is a defining moment for Bodø/Glimt, for our supporters and for the whole region,” “The start of construction of our new arena is much more than the beginning of a building project. It is a statement about who we are, what we have built together, and where we want to go. This arena will be the future home of Bodø/Glimt and a place that reflects the ambition, energy and unity that have driven this club’s remarkable journey.”
The new arena is expected to play a transformative role in the club’s long-term development, strengthening Bodø/Glimt’s ability to compete at the highest level while creating a new meeting place for supporters, partners and the wider community.
The project has also been presented as a major regional investment with significance far beyond football, contributing to growth, visibility and opportunity across Bodø and Northern Norway.
For Bodø/Glimt, the beginning of construction is not only the launch of a new stadium project, but the foundation of a new era. One that matches the scale of the club’s sporting achievements and its growing international profile.
