HPE Aruba Networking to help connect the new Everton Stadium

Everton Football Club has signed a multi-year agreement that will see HPE Aruba Networking, a leading provider for enterprise network infrastructure, become an Official Supplier of Everton Stadium, providing a secure and intelligent networking infrastructure solution.

The system, currently being installed at the Club’s new waterfront home, will include switches, access points, Wi-Fi and wired network management and security software, as well as network design, management and monitoring services.

HPE Aruba Networking is a business unit of Hewlett Packard Enterprise and a leading provider of next-generation networking solutions. The deal means the global edge-to-cloud company will provide a comprehensive networking infrastructure across the footprint of the new 52,888-capacity Everton Stadium.

Everton Stadium: Latest Progress

A number of visual changes are set to converge as Everton Stadium’s build enters the final six months.

Workers from construction partner Laing O’Rourke came together this week for a photograph to mark the milestone, almost three years since work commenced at Bramley-Moore Dock.

And soon, the fruits of their labour will result in several key developments that will add to the growing excitement ahead of the scheduled December completion date.

By the end of June, the iconic curved barrel roof will be completed on the east stand, giving the first exciting visual of the completed structure from that elevation.

By then, the standing seam roof will also be nearing completion, with all sheeting now rolled out onto the east stand roof ready to be slotted into place and complete the roof on all four sides.

Vicky Jaycock, Head of Premium Sales – New Stadium, Everton, is one of 25+ high-level sports and entertainment industry executives sitting on the SVB LIVE Expert Council. She will be speaking at the 2024 Conference, alongside a range of C-suite executives, including LAFC’s Brian Thomas, Marvel Stadium’s Scott Fitzgerald, Horse Racing Ireland’s Vicki Donlon and 3D Digital Venue’s Francis Casado.

On top of the south stand, 50 per cent of the sub-frame work and support rails are now in place, in anticipation for the installation of photo-voltaic panels, which will convert light into electricity that can be used across the site.

The end of June also marks the moment that all seating should be installed. Over 44,000 blue seats are now in position, with work ongoing to install rail seating in the lower tier of the raking south stand, followed by the north east corner.

Laing O’Rourke anticipates having all 52,888 seats installed within the next three weeks, at which time the pitch area will be completely cleared ready for the reduced-level dig that signifies the start of the pitch preparation.

The original piling mat, used to create a 300mm-deep layer of recycled stone early in the build process – both to protect the sand and support the heavy plant machinery – will first be dug out.

Sub-contractors will then begin to build up the layers needed for the pitch, beginning with impermeable membranes that provide a barrier for the top-level at the start of an intense 19-week programme of works.

Meanwhile, the barrel roof on the west stand is due to be installed by the end of July. The installation on that exposed flank is slightly more complicated than on the east, because of the logistics of the overhanging western terrace and because the western elevation is more susceptible to weather, with the east more sheltered from the prevailing wind.

Sports Venue Business (SVB) clients including 3D Digital Venue, Forward Associates and The Parker Company are just some of those working on the Everton Stadium project alongside Laing O’Rourke and architects BDP Pattern and Meis.
