The RFU has appointed Anthony Mundy as its Executive Director of Venue. He joins in December from Leicester City Football Club where he has spent five years as Operations Director. Prior to that, he was Operations Director at Lancashire County Cricket Club and Facilities Director at the former Ricoh Arena.
Anthony will lead Allianz Stadium’s commercial activity, including major events and year-round conference and events, as well as the onsite hotel, fitness and leisure centre and World Rugby Museum.
His previous stadium development experience will be of huge value as he leads ambitious plans to redevelop Allianz Stadium over the next decade.
Bill Sweeney, RFU CEO, said:
Anthony joins at a crucial point in our planning and delivery of a number of key transformational projects including the redevelopment of our stadium.
Our plans will significantly enhance the visitor experience and ensure the stadium is fit for purpose for decades to come and his experience will be invaluable in delivering this. We really look forward to him joining us at the end of the year as a key member of the executive team.
Anthony Mundy added:
I am delighted to join the RFU at this exciting and pivotal time; delivering on the opportunities over the next decade will enable me to pull on my extensive stadium experience as I lead and support the expert team already in place.
NB: Sports Venue Business and SVB LIVE CEO, Katie McIntyre, will be at Allianz Stadium on November 9th for the England v Australia match.
