Empoli FC reveal plans for stadium redevelopment

Italian Serie A club Empoli Football Club has unveiled plans for a €45 million redevelopment of the Carlo Castellani Computer Gross Arena stadium.

Empoli is moving into the future with the revamp project which will transform the current stadium in Tuscany into a functional, modern and highly sustainable venue.

The club said the stadium of the future will also have a significant impact on the surrounding area with positive repercussions in economic-financial, social and environmental terms.

The development will be carried out over 36 months, including the executive planning phase and related validation.

The new stadium will have a capacity of over 18,600 seats compared to the current 16,100, of which approximately 100 will be for disabled people.

The redevelopment involves the complete renovation of three out of four stands and the removal of the athletics track to bring fans closer to the action.

A commercial destination will also be created, an auditorium built, and car parks provided with over 1,300 parking spaces.

Empoli FC said the new Carlo Castellani Computer Gross Arena stadium is a work of public interest for the benefit of the community.

The project aims to create a stadium that can be the cradle of the club and is able to compete with other national sporting venues in terms of quality.

The project represents a real catalyst for the redevelopment of the entire neighbourhood with benefits ranging from the creation of jobs, to an increase in the attractiveness of the area up to a promotion of cohesion social.

The stadium of the future will be highly sustainable from an environmental and energy point of view.

President of Empoli FC, Fabrizio Corsi, said:

This is a project for our fans and for the city. We have been working on the redevelopment of the stadium for years, looking for the best solution from every point of view.

We have developed a sustainable solution, a solid project, which transcends the sporting aspect and brings benefits for the entire area.

This will be a stadium that will live seven days a week and will be a gathering space and a constant reference for the city. We are ready to start this journey with the municipal administration, to listen to the requests and proposals that will be made, with the aim of giving Empoli a unique and innovative result. It will be an intense journey but I am convinced that this redevelopment over time will bring great benefits to the city and increase the value of our club.
