Redevelopment works set to get underway at Elche CF’s Estadio Martínez Valero

LALIGA clubs are continuing to invest in their infrastructures to ensure they are venues fit for the 21st century. This is happening at Elche CF, where the Estadio Martínez Valero will be redeveloped to offer better services and an enhanced experience for fans. The club, together with IDOM, the same company that has been in charge of projects such as San Mamés and Estadio de la Cerámica, will renovate the stadium, starting at the beginning of 2025.

Work on the Estadio Martínez Valero is scheduled to begin in January of 2025. Over the following 18 months, the plan, which is divided into several phases, will be carried out. There will be work on the exterior of the stadium, with a covering to be installed in a modern white design which will have green details, in reference to the club’s colours.

In addition, space will be created for new commercial areas and passageways, which will be covered by the façade. With their location, these commercial and leisure spaces will be able to provide better services for the fans.

Besides the exterior that will surround the entire stadium, the redevelopment of the Estadio Martínez Valero will also involve the installation of a covering on the upper ring of the Tribuna stand, protecting supporters from inclement weather. Moreover, the VIP areas will be enhanced, extending the boxes to the Preferencia stands and adapting them to meet the modern demands of fans at LALIGA matches.

As far as the outside of the stadium is concerned, a perimeter fence is set to be installed and negotiations are underway with the city council regarding the transfer of the plots of land in front of the Tribuna stand.

Talks are taking place with the owners of land adjacent to the Estadio Martínez Valero to discuss the possibility of acquiring it.

Furthermore, the club has asked the city council to cede the land next to the EL-20 road to prepare a temporary car park to compensate for the loss of parking spaces during the 18 months of construction work.

Elche CF’s intention is to complete the works by September of 2026, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the inauguration of the Estadio Martínez Valero and the start of the 2026/27 season.

With the slogan ‘The home of the stripe is reborn’, the club is keen to be a benchmark for design, comfort, experiences and sustainability with this project.

Elche CF want to ensure they have a more comfortable and more accessible stadium, one with commercial areas that will allow fans to enjoy more complete experience, both on matchdays and the rest of the year too.
