SC Johnson Professional team up with Liverpool FC

As part of SC Johnson’s multi-year ‘Goals for Change’ partnership with Liverpool Football Club (LFC), SC Johnson Professional’s hand hygiene products will be used at LFC’s Anfield stadium and AXA Training Centre. As the Official Cleaning & Disinfectant Partner SC Johnson Professional will help LFC make its facilities safe and healthy for the return of supporters this season.

The ‘Goals for Change’ partnership between SC Johnson – the maker of household consumer brands such as Mr Muscle®, Ecover® and Duck® – will include a series of initiatives to drive improvements in sustainability, health and opportunity.

With fans and visitors now back at Anfield stadium, it is crucial that hand hygiene provision is top of its league, to help create a healthier world for its users. Having surveyed the state of play, SC Johnson Professional set out a game plan using its unique ‘Targeted Hygiene’ approach, installing its leading hand hygiene solutions throughout all of LFC’s facilities – including the stadium, retail outlets and AXA Training Centre – which will help reduce the risk of the spread of germs.

The SC Johnson Professional Targeted Hygiene Programme, developed with hygiene expert Professor Sally Bloomfield, enables those responsible for public facilities and workplaces to target high risk moments when people can pass on germs and to provide hygiene solutions that help break the chain of infection.

SC Johnson Professional’s essential hygiene products, including hand sanitiser and washroom soaps, have been located at key places throughout the stadium and the club’s training centre: from turnstiles to pitch side, changing rooms to washrooms, classrooms to catering and hospitality areas. The installation of this infrastructure along with high impact signposting raises awareness of the importance of hand hygiene to fans, staff and visitors.

Sustainable credentials

The partnership also has sustainability at its heart. SC Johnson Professional’s foam soaps deliver 40% more hand washes compared to the same volume of conventional lotion soaps resulting in 36% less soap being used and 30% less plastic waste. This is part of SC Johnson’s ambition, and one of the many steps the company is taking to move forward the vision for a waste-free world.

SC Johnson Professional CEO Katja von Raven commented:

We are delighted to be able to play our part in this exciting partnership between SC Johnson and Liverpool Football Club. As providers of professional hand hygiene products, and with our Targeted Hygiene and Safe Skin Programmes, we are in an excellent position to help the Club keep fans, visitors, players and staff safe and healthy in a sustainable way.

Matt Scammell, Commercial Director at LFC commented:

Throughout our facilities, the installation of over 1,500 hand hygiene points has made a huge difference when welcoming fans back to Anfield and in keeping our supporters, staff and community safe.

We’re really pleased with sustainability benefits that the partnership brings as well. It’s important to us that we explore every opportunity to reduce our environmental impact and the use of foam soap is a great example of our drive to reduce plastic waste and water usage.
