The new pitch-facing 1885 Lounge at St. Mary’s Stadium celebrates English Premier League side Southampton Football Club’s rich history and heritage.
Throughout the space, treasured artefacts take pride of place, allowing guests to go on a voyage of discovery to celebrate the first two decades of the Saints’ foundations, culture and influence across the city of Southampton.
An engraved concrete wall exhibits a large-scale map of the city from 1885, set behind the luxurious furnishings reflecting the Club’s jewel toned crest colours.
The lounge provides a relaxed and unique experience for guests centred on flexible dining, and a striking bar and lounge area reflecting the city’s merchant navy past, and celebrating the Saints’ rich history and heritage.
KSS Director Andy Simons said prior to the 1885 Lounge’s opening:
We are very excited to see how this new lounge offer is received, we think it will be very popular for both match days and conferences. If 1885 is as successful as we anticipate, then this could be the start of a whole new range of hospitality offers at the club.
Anthony Cole-Johnson, Sales Director at Southampton FC stated:
The new lounge sets a fresh benchmark for our hospitality proposition here at Southampton Football Club for both match days and as importantly non match days.
KSS have been truly supportive in delivering on our stated ambitions in a tight time line. Coupled with the wider masterplan development across the stadium, KSS have become a trusted partner of Southampton Football Club.
The new lounge, completed in late 2019, was designed by the 100-strong chartered architects, interior and graphic design practice, KSS, with the assistance of Rainbow furniture suppliers.
KSS has worked on a wide range of upgrades at St. Mary’s Stadium, including not only the new pitchside lounge, but also improved catering facilities and the refurbishment of the home team changing room.
