Bambora, the newcomer who has challenged a whole industry by simplifying payments for small and medium-sized business, has helped Ascot Racecourse to launch a truly mobile Android food, beverage and betting terminal solution.
Built on the Bambora Connect platform – a new pan-European proposition which supports Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) – the solution enables payments anywhere and provides up-selling opportunities to cater to the needs of a discerning clientele.
Ascot Racecourse has been trialling mobile solutions as part of a technology review within the business and for the first time this year, they introduced Bambora Connect during Royal Ascot. The F&B solution combines Kappture’s POS with payment software from Bambora Connect in one small, all-in-one Android device, giving customers at Ascot the ability to pay with card in a fully mobile environment. One added feature is high value contactless transactions to support the likes of Apple and Google Pay.
For ISVs like Kappture, Bambora Connect is the ideal all-in-one payment platform, since payments can be integrated into their existing POS software in as little as 20 minutes, creating an all-in-one Android payment solution which is certified for use with Bambora acquiring. With Bambora Connect, Ascot Racecourse also benefited from an extremely smooth merchant on-boarding experience, in under 24 hours, with transparent and competitive pricing plans.
George Vaughan, Head of Technology at Ascot Racecourse commented:
For Ascot, the customer experience is key and being able to meet their expectations around technology is essential. Mobile is arguably one of the defining technologies of our generation and we are constantly exploring ways to enhance the visitor experience by utilising what this technology has to offer. Bambora Connect and Kappture helped us to achieve that with an elegant all-in-one POS and payment device to be able to serve our clients in a fast and seamless way.
Ascot’s food, beverage and betting terminals are now completely mobile, helping to cut queue times and serve customers wherever they are. In the case of betting terminals, the ability for customers to make bets away from fixed betting stations using an Android payment terminal to accept card payments is a world first.
As Mark Roberts, Head of Bambora Connect, commented:
We built Bambora Connect to unleash the ability for ISVs to encompass payments into their propositions and help serve customers better wherever they are. Ascot is a fabulous example of our forward thinking in this sector, and how we embrace the power of Android POS and payments devices to create incredible ROI for our merchants.
Following the successful pilot scheme, Ascot plans to roll out up to 100 Android POS and payment devices across the racecourse during 2019, further increasing its operational flexibility using Bambora Connect.
