Following on from all of the good news and winning performances coming from Connacht Rugby recently, Intuity Technologies has been announced as the club’s IT Systems and Security Partner of choice.
Intuity Technologies, the technology company headquartered in Galway with offices in Dublin and Carrick on Shannon, will provide Managed IT support, IT & data security solutions and IT business solutions to the team at Connacht Rugby, who are also embarking on another important and exciting journey: their Digital Transformation journey.
As part of this journey, the Intuity and Connacht Rugby teams will work together in partnership to ensure this gem of the west remains secure, efficient and continues to excel and scale at the rate at which their ambitions demand.
Speaking at the launch, Gerard Cox, CEO of Intuity Technologies, said:
Here at Intuity our people are our greatest strength and partnership in our work is something which sets us apart. This differentiator is something we recognise in Connacht Rugby and we look forward to continuing to work, grow, strengthen and excel in partnership with them into the future.
Karl Boyle, Head of Operations at Connacht Rugby, said:
Over the past few years, companies in all sectors have embraced digital transformation and GDPR and sport is no different. Continually improving our high-performance environment on and off the pitch is a key priority for Connacht Rugby.
Critical to this are the systems and security that support these efforts and we are delighted to announce INTUITY as our new IT Systems and Security Partner. A local firm with a national footprint, INTUITY’s people, experience and their enthusiasm for this partnership is hugely exciting.
About Connacht Rugby
Connacht Rugby competes in the Pro 14 Rugby Championship alongside Leinster, Munster and Ulster.
In 2016, the club launched their Strategic Vision “Grassroots to Green shirts”. A key cornerstone of realising this strategy and vision is having facilities to match their ambitions, in particular delivering a fit-for-purpose stadium and high-performance centre at The Sportsground – the proud home of Connacht Rugby since 1927.
The redevelopment plans for Connacht Rugby include:
- A new 12,000-capacity stadium – This total will be made up of a mixture of seating and terracing in new covered stands primarily on the sides of the pitch. Supporters will also enjoy a significantly improved hospitality experience.
- New Playing Surface – Full replacement of the current playing surface with an all-weather surface, ensuring the facility will be available for increased club fixtures for teams throughout the Province.
- High Performance Training Centre – This will include indoor rugby training facilities along with strength and conditioning, medical, nutrition and administrative. These facilities are essential to maintain the Professional Rugby Squad, the Connacht Rugby Academy and the future stars of the game throughout the Province.
Connacht Rugby has completed a rigorous process to identify the optimum location, composition and design of the proposed new re-development in addition to an independent cost benefit analysis.
The design phase has been completed and the formal submission of a planning application has been submitted. An application for public funding is to be submitted under the Large Scale Sports Infrastructure Fund.
The total cost of the project is expected to be in the region of €30m, with the funding model requiring a mixture of public and private funding.
