Duties
- Coaching, mentoring, training and development of current and new Video Assistant Referees (VARs) and Assistant Video Assistant Referees (AVARs)
- Managing VARs evaluation and assessments as well as promotion/relegation
- Attend matches as VARs Observer/Instructor (including Video Operation Room (VOR) operation) and VARs and AVARs Camps and assist with camp coordination
- Selecting and instructing VARs and VAR instructors (teach the teachers concept)
- Identifying and inspection of the proposed Referee Base Camps and FIFA Venue Hotels/Training Sites where referees are trained during the Competitions in cooperation with respective FIFA and LOC stakeholders
- Preparing all necessary reports for the decision making process of the Director FIFA Refereeing
- Monitoring and preparing of the detailed video analysis taking into consideration the specific needs of the FIFA referees
- Preparing and presenting of relevant video clips during the FIFA referees seminars and tournaments
- Assisting the Director Refereeing / FIFA Technical Instructors with referees’ training sessions with players on the field of play during FIFA Competitions and FIFA Referees Seminars
- Acting as the primary contact for all Refereeing VAR related matters and coordinating the activities of the internal and external stakeholders in connection with refereeing matters
FIFA’s requirements
- Several years’ experience in professional football as referee
- Expert technical knowledge of professional football, refereeing and especially VAR
- Demonstrable knowledge and understanding of Video Review Protocol and Procedures
- Experience as an Instructor/Assessor as well as in presenting to groups
- Experience with video production and digital technology
- English fluency required, additional language proficiency preferred
- Ability to develop and follow effective coaching strategies
- Excellent communication and organisational skills; comfortable communicating at all levels
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- Strong analytical skills in the area of professional football and elite refereeing (technical/tactical/players behaviour aspects, etc.)
- Ability to organise, deliver and present an effective training programmes and support materials to FIFA referees
- Ability to prioritise and handle large workload efficiently
