LICAMPA 1617, an enterprise created by leading Spanish figure Juan Roig, has today revealed an ambitious masterplan for a new arena designed by internationally-renowned sports architecture firm HOK and local architecture practice ERRE.
This new arena will be a premier destination for music, arts, culture, and sporting events. Attached to the stadium will be the Valencia Basket’s new home. The project will be an exciting, memorable and highly visible addition to the city’s rich architecture.
The fan-focused project will be designed to boost the club’s growth and support large basketball events, including Liga Endesa and NBA games. The venue will also house additional training facilities, as well as a museum.
Additionally, the arena will offer a diverse range of premium hospitality products and a seating bowl designed to create an intimate experience for spectators. The multi-purpose, highly flexible design enables the venue to attract a wide range of events from family shows to international performers.
John Rhodes, Director of HOK’s Sports + Recreation + Entertainment practice, said:
We are delighted to be working with ERRE on this important project with an ambitious client. Although it is early in the process, our vision is to create a sustainable home for Valencia Basket that will become a world-class sports and entertainment destination. It will be a valuable asset for the local economy, attracting visitors from across the region and creating a wonderful gateway building to the city.
Jose Martí, co-founder of ERRE arquitectura, said:
Working on this project is a dream come true for our studio. As architects, we are very pleased to work side by side with HOK, learning from their amazing experience and savoir-faire. As citizens of Valencia, we are excited to be part of a project that will change the projection of our city to the world.
The next step in project development is an administrative phase with the municipality. The architectural ambition of the project will help invigorate the centre of the city, promoting Valencia globally.
With offices around the globe, HOK designs buildings and spaces that respond to the needs of people and the environment. HOK designers are rooted in technical excellence, driven by imagination and focused on a solitary goal: to deliver solutions that inspire clients and communities.
John Rhodes, Director of HOK’s Sports + Recreation + Entertainment practice, is just one of the many high-level industry experts that will be imparting their wisdom at Europe’s first Premium Seat event, ALSD International, being held in London this October, 11-12.
Sports Venue Business (SVB) is proud to be an Official Media Partner for this event, with SVB CEO, Katie McIntyre, Executive Director for the event.
