Tokyo 2020 concludes MoU with security joint venture

The Tokyo Organising Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games (Tokyo 2020) has this week signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games Security Joint Venture (Tokyo 2020 Games Security JV).

The objective of the MoU is the implementation of an all-Japan security structure that allows Tokyo 2020 to entrust security services in Tokyo, Saitama, Chiba, Kanagawa and designated surrounding areas during the Games to Tokyo 2020 Games Security JV.

This joint venture has been established primarily by SECOM Co. Ltd. and SOHGO SECURITY SERVICES Co. Ltd. (ALSOK), both Tokyo 2020 Official Partners in the Security Services and Planning category.

The MoU will also allow Tokyo 2020 Games Security JV to drive recruitment of additional member companies.

The contents of the MoU are as follows:

  • Tokyo 2020 Games Security JV will drive recruitment of member companies
  • Tokyo 2020 proposes to entrust the above-mentioned security services to Tokyo 2020 Games Security JV
  • Tokyo 2020 Games Security JV will develop the structure for the recruitment and the entrustment
  • Tokyo 2020 and Tokyo 2020 Games Security JV will hold discussions with a view to signing a contract governing the basic framework of these services

Tokyo 2020 intends to ensure the safety and security of the Tokyo 2020 Games through this nationwide cooperative structure; this will showcase good practices for the future, and ensure that all Games’ participants, spectators and surrounding local communities need have no concerns for their personal safety and security. This in turn will create the conditions under which all people can share in the excitement generated by the Games.
