Stadium redevelopment continues at Plymouth Argyle FC

The ambitious redevelopment plans for the Mayflower Stand continue to progress, under the leadership of GL events UK, who serve as the principle contractor in charge of the stadium construction project.

In 2018, the old Mayflower stand at Plymouth Argyle Football Club (PAFC) was demolished and works continue to create the new and improved stadium.

The renovation was prompted as a result of the failing, unsafe roof of the stadium, which needed to be replaced urgently. The club also wanted to increase capacity and give the whole thing an upgrade by adding facilities and services like banqueting and conferencing, that will generate much needed income.

When the project is complete, there will be a brand new 5,000-seater stand, complete with a steel frame roof and seats in the club’s emerald green colours, increasing capacity to 17,904. Planned works include a changing room and toilets, club shop and concessions, conferencing and banqueting, a PA and CCTV system, plus other improvements.

Alongside the work on the Mayflower Stand, the team at GL events UK will also create a new club house for members of the Green Taverners – the supporters of Plymouth Argyle Football Club.

The work is scheduled for completion in 2019.

The redevelopment work at Plymouth Argyle Football Club is the latest in a long list of permanent stadium construction projects carried out by GL events UK. The most recent project to be completed was the Stagecoach Adam Stansfield Stand at Exeter City Football Club, handed over in September 2018.

Previous football stadium projects include Barnet Football Club’s West and North stands and Watford Football Club’s Sir Elton John stand, to name just a few.
