JOTW: General Manager, Government Relations & Host Cities at the ICC World T20 2020

About the role

The General Manager, Government Relations & Host Cities, will lead the team responsible for building and maintaining positive and mutually beneficial relationships with all levels of Government, their agencies and partners and stakeholders across our Host Cities to ensure the successful delivery of ‘A Spectacular Celebration’.

 

The role will take ownership of all aspects of Government Relations, Host City Relations, City Dressing & Activation, Special Events and Protocol.

 

This is a unique opportunity to be an integral part of the leadership team who will responsible for developing one of the biggest sporting events in the world from the outset.

 

 

About you

  • You understand the political landscape in Australia, and have had previous experience working in federal, state or local Government
  • You are a born communicator, who thrives when presenting in pressured situations and understands the protocol when liaising with Members of Parliament
  • You have strong relationship building skills, enjoy engaging with a wide variety of stakeholders and are easily able to adapt your style when necessary
  • You are a natural and authentic leader who can build and inspire a collaborative and high performing team

 

To be successful in this role, you must be a strategic thinker with a have a high level of drive, who enjoys working in a high energy, innovative and fast paced setting. Your extensive experience to date will have equipped you with the ability to create and deliver innovative solutions ideally gained within the major events or sporting landscape.

The ICC World T20 (World T20) is cricket’s ultimate prize in the fastest growing and most accessible format of the game. T20 is the vehicle to attract new, more diverse and younger audiences to the game.

 

In 2020, Australia has a unique opportunity to host this major global event. The eyes of the world will be on Australia as the 10 best women’s teams and 16 best men’s teams, compete to be crowned world champions. This will be the first time that the World T20 has been held in Australia and follows the highly successful ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, staged across Australia and New Zealand, which delivered record-breaking attendances, visitation and global television audiences.
